A Place of Connection

This is a place of deep quiet, sometimes broken in the night by a Great Horned Owl or a pack of coyotes in the distance.

It’s a place of raw beauty, a place to connect to the land, the sun, the moon, and a billion stars.

It’s a place to come and dream, walk the land, find its story and yours, and find your own place of belonging on the earth.

Wild Mountain is land of the Tabeguache Ute people and other indigenous tribes who traveled through this area of the Colorado Rockies. The Ute lived and hunted in this abundant land of elk, buffalo, deer, and bear before the white settlers came and forced them toward reservations in southwest Colorado.

welcome Home

This land of rolling hills
is calling you
while mountains rise
from spring fog
an orchestra of wild flowers
and song birds return
unfurling
electric green aspen leaves.

Hummingbirds sing to
summer rainbows with
warm sun on pine bark
evoking smells of childhood
while afternoon clouds gather
thunder cracks
and evening falls.

Light transforms golden forests
as darkness descends
holding constellations
of stars and footprints
of those who have gone before
who knew in their bones
the potent gifts
of dormant seeds.

Elk and bighorn bed down
as falling snow blankets silence
community gathers and awaits
as embers of winter fires hiss
crackling flames and sparks of
inspiration
paint mountains pink
in sunrise.

This land is calling
and all your ancestors
are beckoning, waiting
to welcome you
home again.
